Hello there, I'm rather unfamiliar with working with codecs and media players in general, but from what I've gathered from an older thread I can't seem to play my 1080p MKV file on VLC player since it's too large. What's a good program I can use to resize this video to 720p, without damaging quality? I've tried to do this using some free software (Any Video Converter) but it doesn't allow me to convert to MKV again; when I try to convert it to a 720p .AVI or other type of file, the movie becomes horribly blurred and what's worse, the subtitles are ridiculously large, and I haven't been able to find a way to disable/resize them while watching the movie yet.
The other option I've heard of is to use Media Player Classic; I downloaded the latest stable version and tried to open up the video file, but all I get is a black screen and the audio playing. How can I get Media Player Classic to play this file right?

Thanks in advance!

There are a few things needed;
-Haali Media Splitter
-FFDShow
-Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

Once you have all these you should be able to play your 1080p MKVs on your PC without any issues.

You should not need VLC anymore, MPC-HC is much better.

You can even use MkvMerge/MKVtoolnix to split the Mkv to the size you like...
