SmartMedia-reader compatibility for SIM-cards

Hi!

Is it possible to read SIM-cards with SmartMedia-reader? I had understood that SmartMedia is flash-memory while SIM is Java-memory. So it is possible to read sim cards with SmartMedia-reader?

And the other question, is it possible to read SIM-card with IC reader or does SIM need own SIM-card reader. SIM-cards must be read by some compatible reader and they have to have some kind of SIM-card software or is it possible to read and look information through Windows explorer?
