I'm not a computer person. I know alot about basics but not in too much detail so please bear with me. I have a dell laptop about 3 years old with Windows XP. I was surfing the net and somehow downloaded a virus. AVG caught it and stuck it in the vault. I shut down my computer and thought it was fine. The next day when I tried to load it I got a Blue Screen:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
"A bunch of stuff about restarting and going into safe mode"
Technical Information
*** STOP: 0x0000006F (0xcoooo12F)

I restarted, got the same message. I tried safe mode, got the same message. I did a complete system check and it said everything was fine but still came up with the same message. I tried to do some research on this but couldn't find anything that matched up with what I am expiriencing. I have been told that I got a virus and there is nothing I can do but i'm hoping thats not the case. If anyone can guide me in the right direction I could definately use some input.

Thank You
Brandon

Almost looks like a hardware problem. Not sure if a virus can affect hardware though, but you never know.

My though when it comes to a severe virus is to reformat. Thats why constant backup is essential.

In order to get my computer working again, I had to reinstal Windows. After I got Windows reinstalled, my computer logged on and got past the bluescreen. When I got logged back on, the computer updated like crazy. So far I have had close to 50 updates. Thanks for all the help.
