XBMC some avi and mpeg4 freezing

I have the newset release of xbmc and I have a 320G HDD some of my avi will not play and I have some mpeg4 that will not play. Some will play 2, 5, 8 mins and then it freeze or screws the pic and sound up. Others play great. I figure it is codec related. where can I get a codec pack for the xbmc xbox?

I have some games on the HDD that was copied from another softmodded xbox and they will not play but some will any Ideals?
