I was opening firefox and it gave me a blue screen. When I restarted it by holding the power button, all it does is the power button would turn on without anything else blinking. There is nothing at all. I tried putting a bootable windows vista basic disc, it doesn't do anything. please help :(

Please post the make and model of your laptop how old it is and what OS was originally installed.

firefox is a ram beast.. probably just the memory failed completely.
