hello.

about a week ago i had to change my power supply because it stopped working, it was a 420w. i have installed a 520w one and have pluged everything in properly but everything is running slower and applications keep pausing for 5 secs. the fans are working and the temperature is fine.

i really dont know what to do and it is very frustrating. can anyone help me

what cpu do you have?
what operating system are you using?
SATA or IDE drives?
Are you using onboard audio?

It could potentially be that the old PSU damaged the motherboard, RAM and/or CPU when it failed. This is common when PSUs stop working.

hi

i have a p4.2.6 on windows xp and use ide for dvd drives (2)and hard disc. i have 2 gig ram. sorry for my grammer but i am having to use my wii

You can try doing a scandisk (with boxes to fix errors checked), if the hard drive has corrupted files it will slow everything down.
Also verify that your drive is setup as UDMA and not PIO . If it's setup as PIO that will slow everything down.
On the hardware side, I know if the onboard audio is going bad it can sometimes slowdown the entire computer, causing the cpu to be at 100 percent at all times.

If you have a Linux livecd (no installation of Linux required), I would use that to check to see if you have a hardware problem. If the computer runs good under linux, then maybe theirs a windows driver problem.
