Every program I open runs as Internet Explorer

I need help please!
Every icon on the desktop is an Internet Explorer Icon except the Recycling Bin.
Ever time I try to open anything, an IE page opens up. At first as soon as the desktop page opened up, I had 47 IE windows saying they were downloading files, now it is only one page at a time.
I figured out that every thing that ends in .exe is opening up as and IE window.
I know that this happened after "he" downloaded and tried to open a program.
I am still new and learning so ANY help would be greatly appriciated!!

Hi rcjj07,

I see it?s been a couple of days and you had no response.
If you haven?t corrected your problem, then try this:

Using a clean computer download and burn a rescue disk from here:
http://www.free-av.com/en/products/12/av...cue_system.html

Then use this guide to clean your machine:
http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=82163

Maybe after cleaning with the rescue disk you will be able to post a HijackThis Log for someone to be able help you with?
