I used Sony 16x DVD-R Discs (for all of them) on "Burn Image" (for all programs) at a speeds of 4x and 8x using DVD Decrypter (used mds and iso file to burn), Alcohol 120 (used mds and iso file to burn), ImgBurn, Mac Book Disk utility, and every time I got the same result:
My game begins on the Main Menu screen, not the intro video. Music plays and the background works, but I have no intervention with the game after turning it on.
Final Fantasy X (NTSC; backed up from game disc), on the other hand, works perfectly, minus the screen is about 40% shifted down the screen.
So I have wasted about 10 DVD's trying to figure out what is wrong, and I think Sony is not the brand for me to use, but need verification.
Some people say to burn at half of max speed, while others say to go as low as possible. Which way should I go?
But my ultimate question is: do I need to switch my brand of DVD-R?
It's not the media or burn speed ,my two slim PS2's are mod chipped & the versions of ff i have work fine as it should even when using less than ideal media, all i did was create iso image with imgburn then burned it with imgburn,so i've never had to do a rebuild so i don't know what issues that would fix,i'm not that familiar with swap magic nor with soft modding however those are the two i would be looking at first since you are experiancing play back issues, also it would be better to use DVD+RW media instead of making coasters,as for 40% downscreen..lol..who knows what's going on there
is your system a pal system? a euro model i mean. try using dvd decrypter and sony dvd-rws iv used them before but never on that game most of mine have worked. almost forgot can you burn at a slower speed than 4x? i burn at 1x it takes more time but iv noticed that when i burn at a faster speed my games tend to not work.
