I am working on ripping my DVD collectiom to my HTPC. I have a few movies that are ripping ok, but when I play them back, they play as widescreen format inside a full frame box. I want everything widescreen so that part is ok, but the full frame box is annoying!! There are several movies that I have found to do this so far. The Hunt for red October, Red Dawn, A fish called Wanda. Anyone have any ideas on how I can avoid this issue. The original DVD's also play the same way on my PS3

Those DVD's must be non-anamorphic - in other words,
they're not enhanced for 16*9, but rather give the letterbox
within the 4*3 frame.

DVD Rebuilder can fix that.
It's a function called Convert from LB 4:3 to 16:9.
I think the free version also has this feature.
