Global standards for web videos?

Hey I am currently doing research on the global standards of what format web content uses for closed captioning for my team. From my what I have found it seems that, in the US at least, the major format's are SAMI, SUB and SRT. Google video/youtube use the latter two while the majority of other sites appear to use the former. However, we will be developing for a market of over 40 countries and therefor need information on standards used around the globe.

Can anyone, preferably from alternate countries, give me any info on the formats you see in use?
