Hi guys,

Okay so i'm experiencing some trouble with my computer. I'm assuming this is a hardware related problem because it always states so in the message on the BSOD anyway.

Basically, every so often (it varies) my computer will freeze up and then jump to the BSOD and show me the message: "***STOP 0x0000008E".
It will then begin to 'physically dump memory' :S.


I am using Windows 7 Ultimate

750Gb Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk Drive

3Gb Kingston value RAM

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz, 1600 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

and my motherboard manufacturer is MSI; the motherboard model is MS-7255


I've no idea what can be done!

This type of error is most often associated with a failing ram stick try removing them one at a time reboot and wait to see if it happens again, you are correct that it is likely a hardware issue. Have you recently installed any new pci cards or drives.

really?
Though it did begin half way through running Vista Ultimate 64bit a while ago..

I hadn't made any changes hardware wise then of course.
So this is why it is a mystery! ;/

I was assuming that since vista came with it's own set of drivers (where as with XP i would have to install my own MSI drivers and utilities from the disc provided), it would simply not be compatible with Vista and in this case Windows 7.
So i'm in a bit of a pickle finding certain drivers for my motherboardd :P

may have to buy a new motherboard muchh?
