Nothing Autoplay on my computer anymore

Hi i have windows XP with service pack 3 and lately when ever i plug in my external hard drive or pop in a dvd or cd my computer never auto plays them like it use too. I've search all over only and no registry edit or program seems to fix this problem. i tried tweakui and other programs but they don't enable my auto play i even went to my computer right click the drive properties and click auto play tab and put it to open the drive automatically i click apply and press ok afterward s. so i unplug my drive then plug it back it still doesn't work. oh and i also tried that make a file called auotplay.inf or whatever its called and that doesn't work either so can you please help me its annoying having to go to my computer to open everything

Unfortunate, lots of the reports of people who have this problem and have tried everything you have already tried have resorted to a reinstall of xp...
