I have a slim ps2 (SCPH-70004) which is modded with a Duo 3 Ultra mod chip.
Supposedly this should allow me to play burned copies of PSX games. However, it's not. When I put a disc in it tells me to insert a PS2 or PSX format disc. After some searching I found that I could put the chip in PS1 mode by :
- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
- Insert PSX game in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off machine.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button once the Blue LED light of the Eject button lights up.
This has a couple of problems though.. First, if I hold down the reset button it simply turns itself off again before I let it go and second there is no LED light on my eject button at all.
Supposedly this chip can autodetect which kind of disc you put into it so I thought maybe it was the fault of the disc and burned a new CD using the steps to burn one with Alcohol 120 listed here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/20980 using a 4x speed, the slowest I could go. The game I tried to burn was Suikoden which should have no copy protection.
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong or how to make this silly box play PSX games?
