Hi,
I have an older desktop computer (emachines t2885) which has an 80GB 3.5" ide hard drive, and space for one more drive. I also have an unused 320GB laptop (2.5") drive. I was wondering if there is a way to hook this up internally, with an adapter of some sort, if that is at all possible, or would I be better off with an external enclosure? my only reserve to going external is that i want to use the drive for movies/games etc and USB can be slow sometimes. I have also seen pci cards for e-sata... is this an option here? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

if it is serial the sata and power connectors are the same as internal 3.5 inch drives

if it is a parallel drive you need the adapter which is included in the kit above

if the laptop drive is serial, and your computer is older, it probably doesn't have a SATA port on the mobo, and you will have to get a PCI SATA card to connect the drive to.

will need a pci sata card & an adapter to connect to a 2.5" drive as the motherboard uses pc2100 ddr ram which pre-dates sata connectors. better off using an enclosure as can be attached to other pc's.
