Hi, i have formatted a friends laptop for them but i have no driver disks and i cannot get the wireless to work. I have no wireless icon in network connections and the wireless indicator light wont come on when i flick the switch on the side of the laptop. I have been trying to sort it out for over a week and i just dont know what to do. i have tried looking for the drivers on the web but to be honest i dont know what iam looking for or what to do with them. The Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A30 PSA30E with XP installed. and in device manager i have yellow question marks next to the following

other devices
network controller
PCI modem
Video controller (VGA compatible)

does this mean anything to anyone.

Please help me iam really desperate.

Thankyou

Hi RingoJim!

Press F2 at boot time to get it to the BIOS Setup and check that the WLAN / Wireless card is enabled. Its probably under devices or periferals.

I don't recall there being a bios setting for wireless on these.. actually it's a pretty basic bios. I see about 3 of these a month.. generally good reliable hardware.

up to 5 different sets of hardware revisions for drivers tho .. everest never reported the right one for me..(because it's not updated often enough probably.. and I always find junk like that NEVER reports the actual revision needed.. just the generic name) just download all the possibles and try each one till you find the one that works..

Hi, if ur not sure which wireless driver to pick, I always chose all of them when I'm not sure. Eventually one of them has to work. Then u can uninstall the ones u don't need. Its the effort that helps you learn.

Try windows update and select custom. This sometimes finds the latest hardware drivers and installs them for you.
