If you have an orignal Xbox, it's beyond Microsofts liability. Even if you aren't modding it, it's an outdated system. Anything you may need to replace, like the lens or drive itself, cost MORE then getting a used one. You should check some local game stores (not major stores like GameStop, they rip you off) and try to get a used one. I bought a used Xbox in great condition for only 30$! Local stores are more appreciative then GameStop too in my opinion.
If you have an Xbox 360, pray to G-d they still have the receit, you can possibly take it back to the store (if within 90 days of purchase). Your only other option is to send that back to Microsoft, assuming you haven't modded it. Good luck with your problem =/
Laser .. £14 off a nice bloke in Leeds .. 10 minutes to fix.
Try cleaning the lens first and maybe a very little lube on the laser guide rails. Could be a little out of alignment.. but what do I know.. I only fix the bloody things for silly kids who smash the cases trying to open them then they can't return them .. first option.. return it as faulty.. XD
