I have followed all the directions from here to rip & burn PS2 games, and I have SwapMagic and a modded Ps2, but my burns play like crap or not all unless I use a CD.
I am using Sony DVD-R's and have tried every burning application and even tried rebuilding.
I have even tried the burns on other modded PS2's. And all meet with the same crappy result.
I've been at this for weeks now and I'm at my wit's end, can someone please help!?

I've heard quite a few people having problems with Sony DVD-Rs (though also about just as many completely without problems...), try Verbatim or TDK, those are ones that i've been using without a single bad disk.

Well I for one use Verbatim also, but have used Sony DVD-R an awful lot too on a V7 and a V14 PS2 with no problems.

What version PS2 have you tried these on and what speed are you burning at. Also depends upon how old your burner is.

I use Sony AccuCORE SONY16D1 - http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm

Unless there's a problem with lasers or the chips all that's left is media, without realizing it you answered your own question it seems, the only other point i'd make is use RW media if your able & a different burner just to be safe, also reading drop it down to 4x including burn & see how it goes, watching the read for errors would be a good thing & use imgburn to create the iso

RW media is very hard on a PS2 laser, and not all PS2 will even read RW media.

Fine to use as a test, but that is all they are good for on a PS2.
