I've just purchased a DVD player that will play SVCD's and have burnt a couple of SVCD's using nero from MPEG files of movies downloaded from Kazaa described as SVCD part 1 etc., you know the type I mean.
Any way on playing them back I get picture but no sound on my DVD but can on my PC (the DVD player puts out sound fine with DVD's so isn't broken)
Is there a reason for this? Perhaps the wrpong sound encoding, frequency etc.
My mother in law has a Pioneer 5 DVD changer that only plays VCD and only accepts CD-RW discs. She also can play SVCD, but gets picture but no sound.. this could be a limitation of your DVD player.
You can also change MPEG2 files to have MPEG1 headers using TMPGenc. This might allow you to create VCD's using higher quality video.. I say might because I have not tried this myself, but have seen other people reference this in these forums.
normski can you tell me if the audio is 44100hz 224kbits/sec. This is the standard for svcd. Usually dvd players in computers would have no problem with this but stand alones might.
What I don't like about svcd is that for some strange reason, some stand alone dvd plaers will only play svcd if its slightly off standard. My dvd player doesn't have this problem thank God.
oh yeah, one more thing.. I found an article explaining how to convert SVCD to VCD using TMPGenc. I don't know if this will help or not, but you never know until you try..
