With more and more of us using out PC as home entertainment systems, the question deserve asking, which is the superior MP3 decoder?

Nullsoft developed Nitrane Mp3 decoder for Winamp, and it seems to me that it was designed to offer MP3 to the masses, whether they had a powerful computer and juggling 15 to 20 spreadsheets and open wordprocessing documents at the same time. So, for a machine that will be dedicated to doing basically one thing at a time, should we be looking for a better decoder such as those offer by Fraunhoffer.

Fraunhoffer is the company that helped develop the mp3 codec and currently makes the most highly regarded encoder. So should we be looking at different MP3 decoders and see if we can get better quality from the decoders?
