Hey all. Any help on this would be extremely appreciated. I have been having alot of issues with DVDs burning lately. It seems every time I use DVD Shrink 3.1 it always fails in the burning process. I have a TEAC DV-W58E DVD+RW on a Dell Dimension 4600. Here is the error I get every time I try to burn. Please advise. Thanks!

Have you tried just having DVD Shrink make the files and burning via Nero?

hi

this bit doesnt look ok?

'C:Program FilesAheadNeroWnaspi32.dll'

should be like this:

'C:Program Files\AheadNero\Wnaspi32.dll'

or this

'C:Program Files\Ahead\NeroWnaspi32.dll'

i would uninstall Nero! then install again!

Thx...

I had the very same problem and I elimanated it by removing both Nero and DVD Shrink. I went to the control panel and add remove programs. I removed Nero first then rebooted. I then removed DVD Shrink rebooted. I then installed Nero again and rebooted. I then installed DVD Shrink and rebooted and WALLA I was baack in business. I can not explain what happened but I think a program was conflicting with Nero and DVD Shrink but after uninstalling and reinstalling I was super. Hope this helps all who may have the same problems

Seems lots of ppl are reporting the same. See some of the other threads. Seen a number of potential solutions to uninstalling both Nero and DVD Shrink and then re-installing to uninstalling veriatas.....

I have a 510A and have never burnt a coaster until DVD Shrink 3.1.7. I've been trying to find what exactly is causing the issue and it would appear that its the writing section of shrink 3.1.7 that does it. If I let it write then the write will not work...nor subsequent writes from Nero. I've been trying this out with a 4x RW disk to prove the point. If I reboot from scratch and not run DVD Shrink at all then Nero works fine....seems that there is some clash here...I've also tried 4 different type of media with no luck.....my immeiate answer is DVD Shrink 3.1.5....but I'm intrested on if anyone knows an exact cure. I'm yet to try analysing a disk then trying Nero....

What makes it so insidious is that, like a lot of folks, it started happening for me out of the blue. I was burning fine w/nero and DVD Shrink 3.16, then it stopped 2 days ago, all coasters since then. The short term solution for me has been to rip/encode with DVD Shrink and burn w/clonedvd. That seems to work fine. Nero having problems just irks by butt, though.

There has to be more to this

I have backed up over a 100 DVD's using shrink and Nero.

Last night I got home and burned 2 dvd's as per usual and then went to do a 3rd and Nero did 1% and then failed and I got a log similiar to the one posted.

Thinking it was a defective disc I proceded to ruin another 3 discs before realizing Nero wasn't working anymore.

I have used the same version of shrink and Nero since the beginning of the year and all of a sudden without explanation it falls over. Then today I see quite a few people having a similiar problem???

I will try uninstalling and reinstalling both programmes but have to wonder what caused this.

Can people please report any progress and whether the above soloution is long term.

I suspect something more sinister

hi there,

Lets clarify my end!

yesterday i had a bad disc! it was matrix 3 revolutions! but i must admit it was the first time i kept menus/extras and shrank the whole disc! 6/7gig worth! what i get is skipping and stops! at very end of disc! i did shrink menus/extras to the MAX! the film i left auto! never had skipping on main moive only i might add! (less compression?)

also extras didnt play at all!!!!!!

but menus work fine! (UM? food for thought there, shrink menus full but not extras to full!)

ok i use Nero v5.x.x.48 (nero v6 all versions suck pants for me!)

Media is bulqpaq orange GEN 4 never had a problem either! till this disc! (um maybe shrink 3.1.7 ???)

i didnt use Nero engine via shrink to burn, i just made vobs then opened Nero separate! (although i have done!) but this is the only shrink 3.1.7 i have done only 2 discs! second one sucks! first was main moive (love actually) and was fine!

i tried the vobs that come from the shrink process as i still have them and as a VOB on the pc the end film part is fine/perfect! so could be bad disc or bad Nero burn???

to help stop the end burn problem i have backed the setting in shrink from 4464 to 4444 so it now wont use the end part of disc! as i have heard from a mate this stops his problems!!!

hope some of this is usefull!

aslo could use TMPGEnc DVD author to burn! i love that proggy as it makes menus and can make vobs/ifo/bup etc... from mpeg2!

easy to use!!!

After reading your post, rotary, I went and tried that. I chose a custom size of 4450mb for the dvd and it burned perfectly to Nero. Maybe the answer is that for some reason, DVD Shrink has been burning over the end of the disc, so it's been failing.

Good to here your problem is solved ok!

mine i think is a combo of all 3?

1, Disc/Media not man enough for a big compressed films?

2, I shrank menus/extras to full (to much!) should let shrink do its "AUTO" thing?

3, Alot of BIG DVD9 films, highly compressed dont like end of DVDr discs?

I would imagine this! that big gigage films of say 7/8/9 gig are compressed say like your holding a SPRING between finger and thumb, its always fighting to grow bigger, the more you squash it tighter the harder to hold it that PRECISE size!

so need to make the size in shink smaller like you say to 4450 so if it allows for spungyness...

ISACC NEWTON theory...

Well after Nero falling over all of a sudden I went through the process of un/re-installing Both Nero and shrink and then proceeded to do a test with a DVD-RW and it worked!!

Hey I'm back in business, so I put in a DVD-R burn the same movie and after 1% Nero falls over again and I'm on to my 7th coaster and a lot of wasted time.

So I get angry and start trawling the net for better burning software and find Copytodvd

http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm (21 day trial)

What a fantastic piece of software, the interface is slick & very easy to use and it just works, it doesn't complain or struggle along or ask stupid questions or fail, I've always believed Nero to be the best and always defended it but I was wrong there is much better software out there.

10 backups and still smiling, I urge anyone who has been struggling with Nero recently to try Copytodvd you won't be sorry.

I haven't had the time to play more and probably won't until the weekend. It could be shrink over burning but I don't think so. IWhat I have discovered it that to not use shrink to burn and after ripping reboot the PC and then burn with Nero. This works fine. However if you skip the reboot part Nero will fail at either the start or the end of the write (sometimes even while trying to erase a rw),

I've written 8 now after the reboot none have a problem but have repeated the process of rip and try an immediate burn and everytime it has failed (only tried 3 times but thats enough).

oh I should also mention that I tried doing a customer size and knocking 100meg off the backup size to see if it was overwriting in shrink...still failed so if shrink is overwriting its writing alot!
