how do you increase the rate of transefer when ripping a dvd currently mines tranfering at 1,500kb/s what things can be done to increase the rate so it will rip the dvd at a quicker rate,

Sounds like you're using your burner to rip - what make/model drive are you using?

Most burners are locked to a 2X read speed but there are hacked firmwares available for some drives that allow a higher rip speed.

Another solution is to get a cheap DVD-ROM that will rip at high speed. I use a LiteOn 166S which allows me to rip at up to 14X and cost only $30.
