You could just use the software anydvd.
6 PIONEER A07 / 107 8x ± hacked firmware
RITEK RULES !!!!
Best way to backup that movie
1 DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0
2 DVD2One 1.5.2
3 Nero 6.3

Why bother with software when you can get a firmware up-grade with no hassle. It will permanently upgrade your firmware as well as increase ripping speeds. The software option is for the less able.....

Hi ispy, go to either of the sites listed in Oriphus's post above. Then do a search for the Hacked firmware for your drive. It usually works great.

Anyone tried the dangerous bros firmware for MSI MS8408A? (my drive)
The fact that the hacked firmwares are listed as still being beta makes me leery of trying them.
dangerous bros: any idea when these firmwares will become non beta?

I use "DVD Region-Free". It works fine. Doesn't change my region code on any of my DVD drives. I live in the US and watch a lot of region-3 movies.

However, as Oriphus indicated, software is less reliable than firmware
BUT, I have not found the FIRMWARE to render my imation imwdvrw8i region free

I have looked and cannot find any for the Plextor PX-L890UE--any chance you can direct to a site that has a link by which I can flash the player permanently?

Thanks, but I want something that flashes the DRIVE PERMANENTLY, NOT something that runs in the background and affects the DVD files as they RIP, WHILE I am ripping a DVD-any ideas?

thanks--the second site has nothing for a plextor L890UE, but the first one does have a zip firmware file--but WHAT DOES IT DO? It says nothing about what downloading and applying that file DOES--help!

Actually the first link does contain info about that burner. Read more of it - it's a Plextor firmware page. It tells you what to do with that zip file you downloaded in the second link. Some firmwares need converting, others just need a firmware loader tool to use. There is good information to be found in that link.
Also keep in mind you replied to a 7 year old post. Thankfully some of us saw it to try and help ;)

yeah indeed.. we always try to help with firmware.. rpc1 forum members may have more up to date info than what is posted.. often worth asking if there is a later version or revision that hasn't been published.
Often it is possible to flash a firmware from a different drive onto the one you have, but you must ask the experts first.. It depends on the drive chipset rather than the make and model.. often that information is hidden in "special interest" spaces and is not public.
