I have a flip top on a v9 ps2. I want to back up my games but i dont know which programs to use.Also for newer games such as vice city or need for speed:underground do i have to use a dvd-r?Can i just use like a cd-r or a cheaper cd then dvd-r?can yoy back up a game without a dvd writer? ppl pls help me?im soooooooooo confused.

You have to use DVD-R's (or DVD+R's) to backup DVD based games. If you don't have a DVD burner I strongly suggest you just go out and get one. Although DVD based games can be ripped down to fit on CD-R's, it's extremely difficult and you end up missing out on much of the game content. Once you have a DVD burner, backing up a game is pretty simple as doing a 1 to 1 copy of the original disc to the appropriate blank media.

Thnx but i dont want to spend money on buying a dvd writer. Is there any way that i can Burn dvd based games without a cd writer and without ripping my games?PLs help ppl

No. It simply is not possible to fit the maximum 4.37GB of data contained on a 650MB CD-R in it's entirety.
