How would it be possible for me to play coppied games on DVD+r disks on my ps2? I understand i need a chip, but I would like to know which one etc. I have also read that playing games on dvd+r disks is more difficult than playing games on dvd-r disks, is this true? Any advice would be appreciated.

If I were to choose today what kind of chip I would buy to have installed in my PS2 I would have to say I would choose a DMS3 for its upgrade flash feature. As for media it depends on your PS2 version, V4 or higher is the general rule for PS2's that will except +R media, though there are always some exceptions. Can't go wrong with -R media.

By the way, this forum does not deal with copying games, only the backing up of your own originals.

thanks for your reply.
i have a v9 edition ps2, and unfortunately my burner can only burn to dvd+r disks.
So if i was to buy a DMS3 chip and install it in my v9 ps2, i would be able to play my games on dvd+r disks?

im sure my v4 will play dvd+rs because i burned a dvd movie and my ps2 read it just fine

Hi Guys,

I just bought a flip top and swap magic for my PS2 V7.
I'm afraid I can't get it to work. I've tried writing and burning using Decrypter everything seems to work using ISO read/write. But I can't load up games. keep getting Red border. I am using DVD+r and DVD+rw. I thought this might be the problem but I can play DVD+r and DVD+rw backup movies....so presume games should be the same?
I used a SONY DVD+RW and a Cheap DVD+R. Is my Medai the problem?
....please help??

my v7 ps2 will play movies on dvdrw discs but have tried several times to use them for game backup test purposes and have never got a game to boot but have no problems with dvdr discs would suggest you try a good quality brand like ritek,fuji,verbitan etc and try again.also you could try burning at a slow speed this sometimes helps.

i have a Version 1 ps2 and the first night i installed my fliptop and played a backup of my Manhunt game it booted kinda weird, the border went red then quickly to blue but it booted. Then it would freeze every 5 seconds during the game then it froze and didnt work. So then later that night i tried it again and it did work fine. Then the next day it didnt and i sat there for like an hour trying to get it to work. Never did. im burning on HP DVD+R media, do you all think its because i have a V1 and those arent very good at reading the +R? I havent tried a -R yet...

would recomend you use dvd-r discs in a v1 ps2 as 99% of v1 ps2's wont read dvd+r discs at all
