Is this a new DVD protection system?

Hi,
I had 2 originals of the same DVD, Star Blazers 1-5, quite new, no visible faults, which my PC didn't recognise as playable disk (XP, LG4040 DVD writer) and which would play on CyberHome 505 (standard player) with initial interference.
If it were only one I would say bad disk. But two?
Could it be a new copy protection device? Or a new standard my LG doesn't recognise?
Any ideas and sugestions will be appreciated.

Suppose you did not own a DVD player and liked to play your DVDs using your computer.

If other movies play using your system's media player, but these don't, return them to where you got them and get your money back.

Eposodic discs seem to have problems on occasion with just playing properly. There is no new copy protection on these discs. Its more likely that a bad batch was released.

As frank says, the encryption method is not different, it is still CSS encryption. However, for some reasons, be it the way the disc is structure or whatever, some PC drives do struggle to read a disc. i've had a few...

It was a lousy manga anyway.
