I've got a backup of Resident Evil Outbreak that i can't get to load.
I get the 'Playstation 2' logo, followed by the words 'Now Loading...' in the bottom left of the screen for about a second, then it goes black and theres nothing after that.

I'm not bothered about playing it online (although it would be nice if i could get past the protection), just offline will do for now - but i can't get it to load.

I've seen other people with this problem, so i'm sorry to ask again, but i havent seen a solution to it yet... does anyone know what the problem is and how i can fix it?

For info. - im running it on a PAL v7 console with a Magic 3.1 modchip. the game is the USA version (i would get a PAL version but its not out until Sept. and even then will have the online part removed).
I've also tried it on a PAL v7 with DMS3 v2 with the same result.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a bad burn. Try burning it using DVD Decrypter to a ritek GO4.

thanks for the reply, but i did make the copy using DVD Decrypter, and the disks are G04, and a bad burn was the first thing that i thought of, so i made another backup, with the same result.

hmmm... it's either a bad burn or it's because it's a USA backup b/c it shouldn't have any problems working on the DMS3.

well it must be a bad burn then... both times i tried it
how would it being a USA backup stop it from working?

I don't know exactly it's the only other thing I could think of. However, with the dms3 and magic 3.1 that shouldn't be a problem. If it were just acting up with your magic 3.1 then I would say that it could be your chip but since it doesn't work on the dms3 it must be a bad burn...

yeh i know the Magic 3.1 is an inferior chip, but i've never had a problem with it at all, although i've heard about a lot of problems other people have had.

i checked the disk with the original, and all the files are there, and they're exactly the same number of bytes, and my PC has no trouble reading the DVD-R

i'll just have to keep trying

Just wanted to clear things up about this game without posting new thread. This game IS playable just like any other PS2 backup, no problems with m_chips or swap magic. Just keep trying and asking away here at AfterDawn.

Also, this game backup is NOT playable online [just like any other PS2 backup] because of course the PS2 checks again for original disc [a form of protection].

And lastly, Resident Evil Outbreak is an awesome game. Another old thread here says otherwise, but it's too old to post on so I HAD TO object here. There's .45's, 9mms, shotguns, huge survival knives, hand-made weapons, hand-to-hand, zombies[der], leaches, over 10 characters, online play [retail version], many challenging levels, and EXCELLENT graphics and CG movies from the great jap CAPCOM [second only to CAPs Onimusha3 CGs]. It's a lot of fun to say the least. Check it out!
