Reset Occurred" and "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once" errors after 150+ successful burns. Why?

Hi everyone, great site btw.

My problem is exactly what in the title. I've backed up and burned over 150 DVDs with DVD Shrink and Nero UltraEdition 6.0 with the same two media TDK 4x and Philips 2.4X DVD+R, and everything was working perfectly. Now I'm getting coasters with these errors:

"Reset Occurred" and
"Could not perform end of Disc-at-once"

My burner is a LiteOn LDW 411S with the latest firmware DR4FSOJ (2004/02/05)..

Could my burner be dying because I've used it to the max? It's only be 6 months with over 150 burns.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Hi,

Have you tried uninstalling the drive through Device Manager, rebooting and letting Windows reinstall the drive? Just a thought.

Thanks for the idea, but it still didn't work, I even tried switching IDE cables and channels, switching from Slave to Master... still doesn't work. I think the drive just died, because of over use. I'm gonna try to just burn a audio CD to see if that works...

How did you get on with your audio cd? Just one quick thought, maybe your lens needs cleaning? Other than that it might be a matter of working your way through all the steps until you uncover the problem. I too have (or should say had originally) a Liteon LDW-411S that I was having trouble with.

Sounds like a Nero problem to me though - have you recently updated to a newer version etc? I've just installed 6.3.1.10 and it seems to be working fine - only did it this arvo though and have only burnt 2 discs using it tonight.

I did a bit of a quick search using these indicators:
"Reset Occurred" "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once" Nero on google and with the search function here and came up with quite a bit of information.

Some suggestions are:
1) Check that you DMA enabled.

2) Try an alternative media - you've been using +R so try a -R

3) Update Nero. There is some talk that some of the earlier 6.0 versions were problematic.

4) Do you have Roxio installed on your system? Roxio and Nero do not like each other.

5) Check your media -vs- firmware. Have you recently updated your firmware? It may not like the discs you were previously using.

Anyway that should give you a few things to think about and play with. IMO and I were you - first thing I'd do is head to Nero and download latest version. That'd be a good starting point.

Okay, finally figured out the problem. It was my hard drive that was dying on me.. not the burner. whew.. it was a back up drive anyways.. so really no data lost. I ran a utility test and the hard drive had alot of bad sectors and clusters.. getting a RMA on the drive.

Burner has been working great ever since I started using a different hard drive. Oh yeah, I upgrade to Nero 6.3 anyways, so maybe this also helps.

THANKS TO Nephilim AND grogey for your help!
