MSI DR8-A problem burning DVD-R only

I have successfully burned to DVD+R and DVD+RW, but when trying to burn to DVD-R (using Nero Burning Rom or DVD Shrink), the program freezes when starting the burn process, the DVD drive light never comes on, the hard drive light stays on, I can not open the DVD drive using the eject button, and I can not even "end task" (W2K), though I can continue to use other programs on the computer. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Have you checked for a firmware update. That sometimes helps witha media problem. What brand -R media are you using? Some media can be poor quality and if bad enough won't even be seen by a burner drive.
