this may be the dumbest question out there...and if it is...please take it easy on me. but is there any way to burn ps2 boot discs to play ps2 games? ive been looking around this forum and been seeing people talking about boot discs instead of soldering on a mod chip. lemme know and any links to good info would be appreciated!
Well, you got that right. Every day someone asks this question. if you could burn the boot disc and get it to load without another boot disc or modchip, you could just burn games and play them without anything. The boot discs are called swapmagic and when used with a fliptop or slide card, you don't need a modchip to boot games.
I hope someone still reads this thread because I feel threatened(?) enough not to dare and open a new thread: here's my question: I bought a second hand modified PS2, version 4, accompanied with a dongle (AR2) and only CD02 containing PS1 codes. This one doesn't boot anymore (scratched). I've been reading stuff for hours now and only see the boot subject in relation to cover top and sliding tools. The guy I bought the second hand from ensured me that he used to boot from the disc he sent me and simply swopped when asked on the screen. Is there a way to get a boot disc that will work with my modified PS2 (I've opened it up to see what kind of mod is in the console, I found 9 wires soldered to the mainbord connected to a tiny rectangular thing and a round blue thing, markings as follows: 1C508A, 04/P86G, on the round thing: 0139 Philips. I own a SCPH-30004, serial C3341459). Original games do play, back-ups obviously not. Or can I order the Swap Magix eventhough I am supposed to be able to change disc's without top cover or sliding card tricks?
It appears I have a Neo 2.2 with a AR2 dongle. So will this work with Swap Magic (the intention is NOT to do the flip-top or the slide card trick). In other words: can I boot with Swap Magic and change the back-up CD in the PS2 without using the flip-top or the slide card?
