Burn PS2 DVD games larger than 4.7Gb

Does anyone know how to do this and what type of media i should look to by to put the ackups on is it dvd-9 type...? And can i do this on my burner pioneer A06..?

to use your pioneer 106 to backup a dvd9 based game you will have to "rip" the game so it will fit on dvd5 discs to do this involves creating an image of the game on your pc then spliting the game down to fit on two or more dvdr discs.what game is it?

Your other option is to buy one of the new dual layer writers that can write dual layer discs

Can you recommend a dual layer writer...also it wasn't any particular game as i tried a few games that were larger than 4.7gb but were 7.X gb..?

No, you have to take same of the contents out of it such as movies and audio so that it can fit on one DVD-R.

Also FYI: The Sony DRU-700 Dual-Layer burners are out now but I've yet to see anybody that sells the media.

I recommend the NEC ND-2500a. You can get it for $77 at www.newegg.com, with free shipping. It's a single layer burner, but it will burn dual layer discs with a firmware update. Which you can get here. http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25904
By the way, this drive is the same piece of hardward as NEC's first dual layer burner, the dual layer one just ships with a different firmware.
