Hi Guys

Can anyone help i,m about to give up...

Trying to Burn PS2 or DVD backup and get this error (DeviceIoControl) Also have tried Alcohol & nero same thing it crashes (error there is reset)

Backing up DVD movies does work now and again but backing up PS2 I have had 10 coasters at least..

Using Pikaone Exter DVD-r/rw drive with firewire connection. Laptop is Pentium 4 XP and using cheap Media (whitelabel x1)

Any suggestions?

two possible answers
1.try a different type of media could be the media causing the write problems
2.check that your aspi layer is installed and working correctly

Ronrice tried the reinstal no luck have since burnt on a friends Sony Vio which works perfects.

Devil hunt how do I check my aspi layer and if it is working correctly, I did think this may have been the prob and actually installed one but I have no idea if it is working or how to check this...?

do a search on google for a program called check aspi(its only a tiny file) and use that program to check that it is working and installed correctly.also most pepole will generaly say that aspi version 4.60 is the best

Right we are getting somewhere now...downloaded aspichk file and its detected no aspi files...so i dont have any ..i have gone to adaptec site to download and it gives me version 4.71 for win xp. The version you mentioned 4.60 is suitable for win 95n so do i stick with 4.71 and download? cheers mate

Hi

Thanks for all your help...what i did in the end was download the XP aspi which seemed to have 2 out of the four aspi files missing did not work when i tried decryptor...what i then did was download ForceASPI which removed the ones i added and then installed the old 4.60 version u mentioned. that again did not work on decryptor but it does seem to have worked with Nero gave me a perfect burn. so will use decryptor to read and burn with Nero...thanks for your help.
