Hi, i was just curious as to why dvd players with built in mp3 decoders will not read mp3's from a dvd??...(from my experiences they will only read mp3's that are on a cd/r or cd/rw??)...any thoughts or suggestions?

No bud, all dvd players i've come across read mp3 off a dvd, hell that's why i use mine.

I'd say it was how you burnt them to the disc. It's not an audio cd, it's a data disc, at least with Record Now dx 4.6. I put my entire collection of music onto about 15 or 16 dvds, cram packed with meaty mp3 goodness, all playing through my 5.1 setup.

Good luck.

Some DVD players will refuse to play MP3 -- if you read the small print in your instructions manual -- you will note that a restriction to CD media having no more then 650MB is applicable.

A few manufacturers are a bit behind and have not caught up with the higher capacity disc. Recent players are now without restrictions.

In all cases as stated by pbailey -- you have to burn your Cd as a DATA cd so they can be read thru a DVD player. In Nero just use the Express feature ; first of all open up a few directories to categorize your collection then burn away .

Until about a year ago there were few/no players that would play MP3s from a DVD. It's become a pretty common feature now, but I haven't heard of any older players that will do it. Older players tend to pay a lot more attention to what type of disc you're putting in them and act accordingly. If you put a DVD in, they automatically look for a DVD-Video file structure. If it's not there they don't look for anything else.
