My copy of a game is horribly scratched, making the PS2 go crazy every time I play it. I downloaded it so I could burn it (the original copy is too dangerous to use, disc read errors are becoming frequent) but it came in .bin format with a .cue. I've seen these files talked about with CD burning, but never DVD.

So how can I burn a .cue file to DVD?

Just bought a DVD±RW Drive, go easy on me please.

Why not? It's perfectly legal if I own a copy of the original. It would only be illegal if I sold it for profit, which I'm not stupid enough to do anyway.

According to the U.S. copyright law, you are entitled to make a backup of your disc so long as the backup is a copy of the disc you own. Even though you own the game, it is still illegal to download and burn a copy of it, copy it using a source disc that is not your original, or purchase a backup copy made by another individual not using your original. To summarize, the backup must be a copy of the actual disc you bought and cannot be copied from any body else's disc of the same title.

Unfortunately, in this sistuation your only legal alternative may be to go to the publisher's web site of the game in question and see what their media replacement policy is. Some will replace it free or for a small fee + shipping provided you send them your scratched disc. If you choose to do this, you might want to make a backup of that disc then to avoid this situation in the future.

Thanks, but payment is out of the question. I've already paid good money (about $70AU) and I don't have any now. The file is sitting here on my HDD, just waiting to be burned onto DVD. All I need to know is how. PLEASE!

Talk of downloading or assisting someone who posts such requests is against forum rules, although you might find the solution in another thread in another area.

Discussion about burning games that you own is ok. Discussion about burning downloaded, even if you own the original, is against forum rules. You could've asked how to burn a bin/cue file to a dvd and left out the part about downloading games.
