I have read near all posts on this till my head hurts. Can someone help. I think this is how it goes, I get slide tool & swap magic(cdv3 +dvdv2) u.s. version. and that is all I need to run a backup on a ps2.

It also looks like most new ps2 games are on dvd format, so I would just use dvd decryptor (similar to backing up a dvd) and do the flip flop swap and the back up will work?

Please someoone help, I feel like there is something I am missing. Also, I looked for the swap thing and found it on swap magic 3.com for about $23 u.s. is taht fair?

So with the swap magic, no modding would need to be done. Just utilizing the discs I would get trright?

Yup. All you need is:
1. A fliptop cover or the slide-card
2. The swap magic discs
3. A dvd burner
4. A burning program such as DVD Decrypter
5. dvd-r media. Preferably Fujifilm, Ritek, or Memorex
That's it.

I read in the forum that the flip top covers are actually bad for the ps2 as it exposes the eye of the laser.

I am somewhat confused on how the slide mechanism works, however it sounds safer than the flip top cover.

Through all of the posts I have read in the FAQ (twice) NOW MY HEAD REALLY HURTS!!! I am no closer to finding the answer... I now feel I can probably install whatever is needed for the ps2, probably kinda nervous if a modchip is involved... what is really the best and most practical thing to get.... a swap w/ slide, swap w/ flip, or mod chip?

And does the version of my ps2 matter for any of the above 3... (I couln't find that in the FAQ)

Also, the version I mentioned above for swap, that is the most current version right?
