basically I've been through most of the forums on how to back up ps2 dvd games, but I can't get any of them to work.I have a version 4 ps2 with a no-solder modchip that also works with swap-magic boot-up discs.
I've tried using alcohol 120% trial ver.,dvd decrypter, record now max. I've been trying all programs and I keep getting burned successfully but when I load it after the boot-up disc it dosen't work,it just freezes. Can someone please help me?

is this a problem with one game or a lot of different games?
what brand/type of media are you using?
what speed did you burn at?

My dvd burner is Pioneer-105.I'm trying to burn "fight night 2004".I also tried burning "the getaway",that didn't work neither. But I'm also trying to back them up on dvd-rw first(basically to see if the game works first).I've read that it matters on which brand of dvd-r's you use,is that true? The brand I'm using now says" Platinum series dvd-r ".My brother sent me this from new york cause a pack of 25 were on sale for $19.99.I mean these discs work good when I'm backing up dvd movies. When I tried burning fight night 2004 with alcohol 120%,I followed the step by step guide but when I put the game and the blank dvd-rw in,I don't know what's wrong, because it dosen't give me the data format scroll down menu(playstation 2).If the brand of discs make a difference, which brand should I get? I also burned at 1X,I seen on the forums that it is better. I'm very sorry thst the message is so long. I really hope you can help me. PLEASE.

If you read enough posts you will see that most people will recommend you not use rewritable DVDs for PS2 backups. PS2 is very picky over the quality of DVDs and it is recommended you use DVD-R media. Also, try getting the expensive (=high quality) type as it makes it easier for your PS2 laser to read the data. These are the preferred brands: TDK, Verbatim, Fujifilm, Ritek/Ridata, Memorex. Yes, burning at the lowest possible speed (1x) is also highly recommended. DVD Decryptor, Nero, Alcohol are good software to try and backup your games. Good luck.

Also,no disrespect but I would really prefer if a "Senior Member" would reply to my questions.I think they have more experience in what they're doing.

melran, you think because a guy has "newbie" status he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about? Newbie only means new to the forum, not new to PC's and /or burning. There are guys here who just joined that write guides to software, some are authors of software we all use, both freeware and shareware. You think a guy would appreciate help offered, no matter what their status is. Quote: No disrespect
, then what the hell is it? Maybe you're judging everyone by your expertise, since you're a so called "newbie". If you're not even going to attempt to try recommendations by others who know more than you do (despite whatever their title is) before you pass judgement then it would serve you right if no one answered your questions. But then what do I know, I'm just a member......

i have to agree with sackz about the use of dvd-rw discs as i personaly have tried using them myself and never got a game backup to load in the ps2 using them.I personaly have never used the "platinum series" dvdr discs but they may be ok.All my backups have been created by record now using the file, new job, disc to disc copy option and creating a tempory image on my hard disc(i usualy only burn at 1x if the game contains a lot of fmv sequences or high res graphics),i personaly use ritek printable dvd-r discs for my ps2 backups but the other brands sackz recomended should also be fine(i personaly have had mixed results with memorex discs)the pioneer dvr 105 drive should have no problems creating working backups as its the same drive i'm using at the moment.all games can be backed up but some games have problems loading with swap magic check out http://www.swapmagicfix.com for problem games with swapmagic and there fixes.all i can suggest now is try backing up one of your games to a dvd-r and see if it will work or not if not then post back here and we'll try to solve the problem from there.would recomend you use either record now for your backup or DVD Decrypter in mode iso read/iso write and see what happens
