Thats what all of the reviews that I have read say. I havent tried it myself but go to google and search for it I dont remember the exact web page but its a reviews page. It says that they did a direct copy put it in the PS2 and had no problems what so ever. So as far as I know and have read it works WITHOUT a modchip. Looking to buy it myself cuz I dont wanna screw up my PS2
