I split that silver power wire a long time ago and the CD tray won't open when I push the eject button, so if I want to play a game, I open the system up and remove the disk drive cover. I've long since removed and lost all the screws. So do I need a flip-top cover? Sure this method is a pain in the ass, but if it saves me $20, I'll work around it.

If so, then all I need are those Swap Magic discs, right? What about this dvdloader program, that for people with version 9? Because I have a 4-8 with 8 screws.

If I need that program, where do I buy a disc of it, because I don't have a DVD burner.

Are you going to be putting backups or original games in? If they are the originals, you do not need any swap discs. Just use the flip top cover to insert the original game, close it, and turn on the power to the ps2.

I'm talking about backups and imports. I've been loading regular games into it for about a year now, no problem.

I checked the list of games that need the cdloader and I don't have/want any of them... so as long as it's burned to good media, I'm set?

To play the backups you will need the Swap Magic Discs. (The DVD version for DVD based games, and the CD version for CD based games). Other than that, you should have everything you need to play these backups. Good Luck and let us know if you have any more questions/problems!
