i am trying to do the easy refresh toc method.. i have swap magic cd and dvd 2.0, i put in the SM cd, wait for 'insert disk' to come up, insert SM dvd, and then i can do nothing. the SM dvd keeps spinning, and i know i am supposed to do the swap method now, but when i stick the plastic card into the tray it makes bad-sounding noises and causes the SM dvd to spin against the cd tray, and a 'ratcheting' sound happens. something must be wrong.
needless to say, after i do this and swap in soul caliber 2, it doesn't work! i think if i could get the SM dvd to stop spinning i could do it the correct way? all that comes up is a black screen, nothing happens. i feel i may be missing some small step that actually 'refreshes the toc' here.
the reason i am trying the TOC method is because soul caliber 2 won't work anymore. just last night i was playing it fine by doing the swap magic cd > cd loader > SM dvd > soul caliber 2 method, but now after i insert it when the 'EA method' screen comes up, it just says error reading disc. i checked the disc, no fingerprints or scratches, it's fine. i tried another game i knew worked in the past, GGXX, and that got past the error screen but nothing happened besides a black screen with no sound. i think my ps2 is the culprit here, and i will try to clean it later today, a quick blow job did nothing.
i tried running cdloader and dvdloader with different beta settings to no avail. after cdloader screwed up i thought dvdloader might fix it, but no. same error. also, if you're going to get dvdloader, please get the 'v7all' verson, i wasted two good dvd-r's trying others that simply gave the red bars for my SM dvd screen. but maybe the ps2 did that..
anyways, all help appreciated!
