I am new here and I have looked over and over trying to find the answers that I need to play my backups. I own a fliptop and the swapmagic disks.I have made a backup using dvd decrypter of NCAA football 2003 and I read that I would need a patch for any games that EA Sports puts out. I have looked and looked everywhere for these "patches" and cannot even seem to find any. I also made a 1:1 copy of marvel vs capcom2 and I thought if I just swapped the discs out it would work but the cd kept spinning and would never read the disc. Am I doing something wrong?

I creadted a image of dynasty warriors 3 and then I saw the iso and the mds files. I took those files and burned them onto a phillips dvd+r. Then I tried to play the backup of dynasty warriors 3. I used the dvd swapmagic disc. I get a blue border around the insert disc screen and then it seems to load but all i get is a black screen. I dont know if there was anything I did wrong or was there something I forgot to do?

Have you made any backups that work? Are you sure your ps2 can read +r discs?

no backup has worked yet. thats why I was wondering. my ps2 can play +r discs because I played a backup dvd on a + r disc (same company) and it worked just fine. On an interesting side note, when I wanted to test out the +r movie disc and I used the dvd swapdisc it would not load, but when I went in and played the movie outright it worked fine. Could that be a problem the swapdiscs are not functioning properly? How could I tell? the insert disc screen comes up on both of them

DVD movie backups do not need a modchip or swap method to run. There's either a problem with the way you are burning your game backups or a problem with your swap technique.

You're not pushing the Eject button to swap discs are you? I assume you are using a slide card, no-solder mod, or flip-top for your swapping.

I am using a filp top to attempt to play the backup games. I have an update on the status. I burned another game with alchohol 120% and it see,ed to work it loaded the splash screens of the game but it was very jumpy with sound and it stopped at the omega loading screen.

Was the screen black and white and all distorted? If so the video signal does not match your console (i.e. you're trying to play a PAL game on an NTSC console or vise versa). Also, what speed are you burning your backups at? Most PS2 have problems with discs burned faster than the slowest speed your burner supports.

no the screen was perfect not a problem at all. the sound was jumpy then non existant. which image do you think I should try the DVD Decrypter at 1x or the alchohol 120% image at 1x. the alchohol disc seemed to work better but still nada yet

would it almost be beneficial to me just to get the hdloader and just load the games on that and not have to worry about the cd at all?

The HD Loader program seems to be the best of both worlds when you compare it to the previous situation where you had no-swap modchips that were extremely difficult to install but easy to operate and flip-top/swap method which was somewhat easy to install but difficult to operate. The HD Loader is extremely simple to install and just as easy to operate as how it requires no disc swapping, media burning, or complicated soldering. If you're willing to spend a few dollars more to get backups working I think it would be well worth the money despite a few compatibility issues with some games. I'm sure that there will also be future versions of HD Loader that address some of the compatibility issues just as Swap Magic has evolved over time.

thanks for all the help guys. with this forum and some other websites I got the backup to work last night. I had to realign the laser and the backup booted just fine. I think I am going to go ahead and get the hd loader and just use the backups that way instead
