forgive my ignorance, but how can one tell wether a game is cdbased or dvdbased. Cause all my ps2 discs look the same to me.

if you look at the back of your case it usualy says either cd or dvd rom it also says cd or dvd rom on the top of the orignal disc and finaly it you turn them over original dvd5 games are usualy a silver colour orignal dvd9 games are a gold colour and cd games are usualy a dark blue/purple colour

So inspite of what a lot of people in this forum say and if I am not mistaken, there still are a lot of cdbased games.

yes quite a few of the early ps2 games were released on cd here a list created by a member here i personaly don't know how accurate it is but should give you some idea http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/79036
