I ordered the no solder mod chip for the ps2 version 7 with swap magic. I put the swap magic DVD in and waited for the insert disc screen. I pushed and held the eject button and the tray ejected but the light never turned orange or close by itself. So I closed it manually and pushed X. I get the red border. I'm guessing that means a bad burn. I've tried everything to burn them and nothing works.
Alcohol 120%- Tells me that my cd isn't large enough. Even though it is.
Nero - just doesn't work for me. I get a strange asci error on startup.
Games X Copy- Burns the game. I get the red border when I try to boot.
Recordnow Max- Burns the game. I get the red border when I try to boot.
DVD Decrypter- Burns the game. I get the red border when I try to boot.
Fireburner - Freezes my computer.
I always burn at the lowest speed. I'm using Memorex 4.7gb DVD+R. I have no clue if the problem is with the no solder mod or the burning process. It could be the mod because I don't get the orange light and have to push the tray back in. Or it could be what I'm using to burn the games. Could someone please tell me what programs you use to copy and burn the games succesfully and the exact settings you use. I'm all out of ideas on what to do and I don't think I can get a refund for the modchip. I got it from modchipstore.com. :bang: Another thing I noticed is that after a while the eject button stops working alltogether and I have to reinstall or take the chip out to get it working again.
basicly there's nothing that can go wrong with a flip top, once you've fitted it, it's just a matter of using the swap magic discs to load your games.
if you want to check the games you've burned so far try using the knife trick method first, it means you will have to remove the front of your drive tray but it goes back on easy enough, you can take a look here http://www.ps2-exploit.da.ru/ to see what to do, and there's a pic of a slide card, so you can make your own, then you will at least know if your burns are any good
I'm in luck. My friend has a flip top that he let me test my backups on(I wonder why he never told me)and they all worked like a charm. I'll get my own flip top now. Thanks for the hel guys.
