Has anyone ever seen this when using DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter to copy a disk to your HD? I looked it up on the boards and did not see a posting. I've tried two different computers and two different copying programs. I can copy the entire disk (it is clean and it reads perfectly everywhere) except for one file (E 10:11:24 Failed to decrypt VTS_03_4.VOB!
).

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks!

This is a lame attempt to draw interest to my posting. Maybe the subject line was to intimidating? I have backed up several movies and have never run into this decryption problem. It is a Region 1 DVD, and DVD Decrypter asked me right away what region it was from. I also tried decrypting from region 2 to see if that made a difference, but it did not. Please help me.

Thanks!

Nope. Keep in mind that nobody works here or gets paid to do this. We're all here on our free time so don't get uptight because your question wasn't answered two and a half hours later.

A CRC means your drive can't read that sector despite many retries so it sounds like you have corrupt data on your original.

You might try setting Decryter to skip errors and see what happens.

Not uptight. Just questioning my own idea to put error code in the subject line. Sorry if that offended you.

Thanks for you input. I'll try it.

SmartRipper's worth a shot although in my experience if Decrypter can't handle it, it's a long shot but you never know :)

I'd give SmartRipper a whirl (make sure the disc is clean as possible too) ... i'm not much of a Decryptor fan myself heeehee

Nephilim was right. After 5+ attempts, I was able to rip a complete ISO file with DVD Decrypter. Immediately after that, I used DVD Shrink to rip a clean set of Video files. I'm still unsure of the problem as I cleaned the DVD several times and it read in all my players. Next time I see a CRC error I will clean the disk as much as possible and the keep trying until it works.

Thanks all for your help.

Thanks!
