Hi guys,

I need some help. Last Saturday my DVD burner (NEC1300A) started playing up on me (or so I thought) while burning a movie DVD (used sonic my DVD to encode the movie). When I went to burn with Nero the DVD would stop burning randomly during the burning process and Nero froze. I tried using different format of DVDS (both + and -) but same problem. I then tried using GEAR DVD to burn the DVDS but it wont even start burning. I reformatted the pc in case it was virus problem but the same problem, checked cables etc. But no joy. So I went out and bought a new DVD burner (NEC 2500) yesterday and yep-same problem straight away. This problem only started on Saturday I have been burning away for months without a problem. Any advice would be appreciated

Doug

I’m really hitting a brick wall here

You should have your burner as the master drive(did you also switch the jumpers?), also what was your master drive? You try updating your aspi layer?

yeah ive checked and changed the jumpers - originally my dvd rom was my master. Im really scratching my head here as up until about a week ago everything was working fine. i was using a nec 1300a but as ive said it just would stop in the middle of a burn. so after reformat etc.. i went and bought the nec 2500. but straight away it did the same thing. i was advised by a mate to try an older version of Nero, which i did and up until last night things were working again. but last night when i went to burn a dvd (movie) it was a trip to "coaster" city again. ive all the latest firmware installed - ran virus and spy ware sweeps. The only thing i can think of is that it psu issue

1. Check the ASPI ... it has a nack for getting in the way of things http://www.hazza.dsl.pipex.com/faq.htm#ASPI

2. Heat issues? I doubt it but its a thought.
