Ok, I've read all of the threads in this forum concerning projectors. Oriphus emphasizes especially on this projector, the Panasonic PT-AE500.

And so I went on ebay. I was wondering what would be a resonable price to put down as my maximum bid. I just bid on the projector a minute ago on it, for $1,000. It is currently at $909.50 and the bid will end in 3 hours. I most likely will be outbid on this item, but for future reference I would like to know what is a resonable price.

Thanks!

It's a new one.

There's also another one selling that has it on the option of "Buy Now" (without bidding) for $1590, not including the shipping, which is $130.

This is the link for that one.

Yeah, i looked at that one before. The problem is that it is coming from Japan and will be in Japanese and you have to change that manually yourself. Im also not sure about the plugs for them and whether they will work in the U.S.

If you can get the projector brand new around $1000 - thats amazing. The selling price on these tend to be around $1899 and up, so anything below that is a good deal. At the min, Ebay have this:

Its worth noting that the next model down is $1249 on Ebay to Buy It Now:

Whoa..that is pretty cheap.

Could you tell me what the difference would be between the two projectors? I mean, in practical terms. Maybe I could get this instead.

But then again..if I was to consider the L300, instead of the L500, are there other models that rival with this lower model?

Hi, both are 16:9 projectors. The L300 however is 960x540 pixels SVGA, whereas the L500 is WXGA. l300 is rated at 800 Lumens and the l500 is 850, though i only ever use mine about 400-500 Lumens, its a lot better for the contrast. The contrast ratio on the L300 is 800:1 whereas on the l500 it is 1300:1. Apart from that they are very similar. Both are excellent projectors, but i just love the L500 cuz of the WXGA and high contrast ratio.
