In one word: everything ..... as for which you should use, thats up to you ... if you want to do some serious studio stuff (i.e., professional calibre) then go with Macs however for 99% of people (including people who do professional stuff) then PCs would be the route to go

Macs don't have any horsepower, you can't upgrade anything in them and they come in those fruity looking colors.

But lets not forget that movie studios and special effects centers use them -- for a reason heehee (although PCs are catching up). BTW i didnt mean that crappy imac type of mac... but the G5 :)

First off I do hate Macs. So now I will defend them.

They do have a lot more power and speed when it comes to imeage editing and video editing. They used to best for those functions. Now however the PC with Linux installed can do an amazing job that is so good that made Mac consider to swtich to Unix based system with OS 10.

But in video, sound, imaging Macs are faster and do have more "horsepower". But the PC is really catching up (its not just the harware but the software for why).

I would recomend a PC, Macs are the things that will not die but will not be popular.

Personally, I will continue sticking with upgradeable PCs until Macs become affordable and more practical for everyday use. Because of their obvious success as far as speed and imaging is concerned, I don't see them dying out anytime soon, but because of the constant hardware and software advances for PCs, I don't see them dying out either. But for now, stick to PCs unless you have a very lucrative budget.

Perception is reality.

I only play around with Macs a little. They are good for some specific science software. But now most have switched to Linux and give software for free. So I can`t see Macs lasting too long in the academic world (which was about 60% of people). Also with new programs being writen in the Windows environment ie Photoshop available for PC, I think most of the video and picture people will move to PC`s.
Soon all that will use Macs will be Bug driving people that need to support the under dog creator of most of our PC laugauge.
I never did really like bits, nibbles and bytes. Weird Apple people.
