I have tried many different methods to burn my PS2 games and they still do not work in my PS2 console. My PS2 is version 2, although it may be version 1, and I installed a Magic 3.1 modchip so I should not have to swap any cd's. I have tried using Nero and DVD Decrypter. Also, I have tried both DVD+R's and DVD-R's and with the DVD+R's it just keeps trying to read the game. With the DVD-R's I at least get something back saying insert a correct formatted disk. So I guess my questions include:
Should I only burn DVD-R's or DVD+R's?
Is there certain software I need to use to burn my PS2 games?
Do you have any suggestions in getting it to work?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks guys for your input. I was wondering if my PS2 doesn't read DVD+R's and I shouldn't count on DVD-R's to work either, is there any way I will be able to backup my PS2 games? Do you have any suggestions?
Hey, I also have a Magic 3.1 and I'm having problems burning PS2 backups. So far I've tried using Alcohol 120% and DVD Decrypter, but no luck. I've extracted and burned the ISO file, but when my PS2 tries to read the disc, it fails.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Note: I'm using a BenQ DVD writer and Memorex DVD-R's.
Hey DanPS2. I'm still having problems backing up my PS2 games and having the Magic 3.1 modchip. I'm running out of ideas. I think the next thing I'm going to check is the soldering again. I have version 2 and yet when I look at the schematic to solder it, one of the chips on my board is misplaced to the spot next to it. I guess I will just try resoldering it to the chip instead of the empty spot the schematic told me to do. If I ever get my PS2 working with backed up games, DanPS2, I'll tell you how got it to work. I hope you'd do the same if you get yours to work. Good luck buddy.
My PS2 is version 4, I believe. I didn't install the Magic chip myself, so I can't help you on any installation questions. The guy who installed my Magic chip said he tried various DVD-R backups on my PS2 and they all worked, so I assume my chip was installed correctly. Anyways, if I find anything out, I'll let you know.
