I read in another post that it is a good idea to use the decrypter's verify function....after burning. After re-authering/backing up in schrink I started using it and I have been getting an error during the verify process. So far it is with legacy 4x dvd-r or ridek 4x dvd-r. However, the wierd part is that two times now I have taken the errored disc out and placed a legacy dvd-rw disc in and retried the burn and was successful?
So, I guess my question is could it just be chance that I get an error or is there an actual fixable problem going on? Or is it just my computer recognizing the fact that if it errors a dvd-r I have to throw it out and if I use a dvd-rw I can reuse it:)! (damn computer)
i have notice once that another program in the backround was trying to ask me if I wanted to update it while burning was going on , which I clicked NO.
With the discs that get the error message, they still play in the dvd player, but they get to a certain scene then go backwords to the beginning of that scene. If I fast forward I can get to the next scene.

When I get time, I am going to download Nero and try that, but I want to figure out this decrypter burn problem

I've never used it and I've also heard from other members here that it can shows errors on an otherwise good burn.

I'd suggest finding out what program that is and either permanently disable the autoupdate feature in it or shut it down altogether before burning.

Not a bad idea at all. Nero 6 Ultra is a very comprehensive and great performing suite.

It would also help if you explained the steps you're using and which programs

ok,
place dvd in, use schrink to create an iso either by doing a complete backup (size pending) or re-authering and only taking the main movie.
then use decrypter to burn the image @ 4x speed using again either dvd-r or dvd-rw discs. then I saw here on one of the threads I shoud use that verify function, that's when the wierd stuff started happening.
Sometimes with a dvd-r or dvd-rw for what seems no reason at all, the burn fails or so says the decyrtper verify function. When I play the errored copy I notice that a some certain scene it reverses back to the begining of that scene. having said that next time I backup my movie I am going to try burning at a slower speed and disabling Norton. Also, I will get Nero.

But, my most basic question is why are some discs burning successfully and some not using the exact same iso file? Meaning when I got the error I would take that disc out and place a new blank disc in and burn the same iso file and have it complete successfully?
that's why I figure it is backround stuff

Nephilim- I found and disabled the update manager!
Thanks

Hi Siciliana...

this looks a lot like what I was helping you with on another thread...you've just packaged it a little differently...and clouded the issue with Decrypter problems.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/92265#482950

Basically, over there you had media/burn problems and you were waiting for G04's...and over here...three days later, you are still having media/burn-related problems. And I am still waiting for a reply over there. Ummm. This looks like a double post, and those are frowned upon here.

Nephilim & flip...I see both of these threads going to the same place. What do you want to do??? Where Siciliana is right now is that the Liteon came with RecordNow, which would be a limited, special edition that doesn't seem to be working so well. And, there has yet to be any ASPI, DMA, or VM check. I also think a firmware upgrade is due. Basicaly ground zero...and I'm wondering if Siciliana has the patience to see this through?

wait a minute here,

#1 I shouldn't have posted anything in this forum, I know that now! I know that it doesn't belong in the advance users!

#2 as far as I can tell I have separate issues going on here! when copied movie was placed in pc and power dvd was opened the pc shut down.....however, it did not shut down when using windows media player! problem solved (ordered new media)

#3 new issue is that with my new media (ridek 4x DVD-R)I get some good burns and some bad burns using the exact same dvd schrinked iso file? As for the rules I am supposed post a new thread for a new topic which I thought I had. " 8. Don't reply with an off-topic comment/question -- instead start a new thread. "

#4 If you guys want delete my posts here that's fine with me and after I get Nero (as doc409 suggested) and If I still have these burn problems then i will post in the newbie forum.

#5 what would I want a movie like Spartacus for? I obviously shouldn't have posted "returned" sounds fishy, but I was only telling the truth. My brother asked me to back it up for him.

#6 Doc409 I appreciate your help and that's why I asked for a MD in my new tread (assuming you are some sort of Doctor!) I also appreciate Nephilim's Help. Flip218 You didn't add anything of any help.

SICILIANA...

Thanks for clearing that up. I have a few comments.

First, regardless of what forum you posted in, people are here to help people like you...so where you posted your question is not the main issue.

Second, while issues/problems may look different, they often have a root cause...and sorting this out requires a multi-step process. One thing that double posting does is cause a dupliction of effort, and this disrespects people who are freely and sincerely giving their time here. Think about it.

Now then, if you want to go back to your original thread that you started with me ... that would be fine. We can work through this and get everything working the way it should. Others will be following, and if they have an idea, they will post. But we need to start getting some reliable information from you, and you have to be committed to being patient, and to see this process through to the end.

ADDED ON:
I would also add that your comment to flip218 above doesn't go very far with any of us. It sounds ungrateful. flip218 is very knowledgeable, and he has helped a lot of people here at AD ... and he certainly cared enough to respond to two of your posts.
