hi all,

just got my ps2 chipped with messiah 2 just to find out out it won't play dvdr. tired diff media and some were recognised by ps2 but some not.

adjusted the angle of the laser and cleaned the lens, and now it can play dvdr approx 20% of the time.

my question is: do u think laser is worn out? and needs replacing?

does any one know a realible site where i can get a laser chaep and brand new in UK (cheapest i can find is £50)

NB. i have a 400c laser

you can buy them from ebay for about £25.00,they're 400c but I have one that reads dvd-r no prob's so yours might be worn.

btw I have a used 400b that has no prob's reading dvd-r and no dre's on ebay. (sorry for that)

Have you tried adjusting the intensity of the laser strength? There is a small trim pot that can be adjusted SLIGHTLY clockwise in direction and this will increase its power, but decrease its lifespan. I had to make this adjustment also and it worked fine for me. Search the web for a guide, there are tons out there.
