Can you give us some info of what you use...
DVD R/RW (MAKE OF DRIVE)
DVD MEDIA (TYPE OF DVD + MAKE)
PS2 CHIPPED OR SWAP DISK
Also can you tell us your process of ripping to burning and what speed you do it at.
I use GoalLover DVD-R media and have a Optorite DVD 4x R/RW drive I use DVD Decrypter in ISO mode to rip and burn and I do it at slowest speed which is 1x. I have a Matrix MXL2 chipped V9 PS2. No problems ever with any games.

Hello everyone. I've been looking at the forums and tried to solve my own PS2 problems, but nothing has working so I decided to become a member much like Weasel967. I'm trying to backup my PS2 games and so far I have not gotten a single one to work. I've used both DVD Decrypter and Nero and I always write at 1x. I own a Plextor DVD R/RW and that is what I have been burning with. I have used both Memorex DVD-R's and Arita DVD+R's. My PS2 is definately version 1 or 2. I soldered the Magic 3.1 mod chip inside the PS2 so as far as I know I shouldn't have to swap disks, so I haven't been doing that. I cannot think of any other information to give, but if there is anything you need to know please ask. So at the end of the day, I don't know what else to try. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. It would be tremendously appreciated! Thanks.

Saphro hey its nice to meet you. Im not sure about the magic 3.1 chip. I use a flip top cover and swap magic discs. You sholdnt need the swap disc with the chip. To burn with Nero this is the steps.
1. start Nero.
2. select "dvd" in the right had pane then select next
3.select "copy a dvd" then select next
4.select you source drive
5.select or delect "copy on the fly" then click next
6.select your write speed. (ive been useing 4x and done well)
7.select either "test" ot "test and burn" or "burn"
8.press "burn" to begin
Hope this helps

Hey Weasel967. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried burning my PS2 game the way you asked and it still did not work. Right away, my PS2 comes up with "Please insert a Playstation 2 formatted disk." Do you have any other suggestions I could try? Thanks for your help.

Hey everyone. I was wondering what is the difference between a PS2, CD-based game and a DVD-based game? Aren't all PS2 games, DVD-based because the games take up so much memory. All of my PS2 games are at least 4.7 gb and some require more memory than a regular DVD can even hold. I'm wondering what the difference is and how I can tell if have CD-based games or DVD-based games. Possibly that is where I am running into problems in backing up my games. So if anyone can explain to me which games are CD-based and which are DVD-based, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

to tell the difference between dvd and cd based games simply look at the back of the case it came in it will say either dvd or cd rom,it's also printed on the game disc and finaly if you turn your orignal ps2 game over cd based games are a blue/purple colour, dvd 5 based games are a silver colour and dvd 9 based games are a gold colour
also are you using the correct boot method for your mod chip to boot your backups
and finaly i would recomend that you use dvd-r discs for your ps2 game backups as most v1-3 ps2's wont read dvd+r discs

if you dont want to void your warranty then your only option would be the slidecard and swapmagic discs unless you have a hard drive in your ps2 then you could use the hd loader program

You need to realize that DVD Decrypter is for DVD games (hence the name) and obviously if you are using 700mb discs, they are CD games.
Your program options:
DVD games: DVD Decrypter, Alcohol, Nero, etc.
CD games: Anything BUT DVD Decrypter
