quick question... has anyone been able to download a copy of the swap magic cd either version 2.0 or 3.0 and successfully burn it and get it to load. I have burned it image with no problem but it will not load in my sons ps2.i have even tried tweaking the ps2 to see if it will recongize the cd but it doesn't it loads originals just fine. I've used 2 different types of media one memorex and other generic which i'm sure wouldn't read in ps2 but tried anyway. I guess my question is have anyone got a burned copy of swap magic to work if so what was your resolution. I'm using Nero 6.3 and tried alchol 120. I have exhausted all things to try. I also read that the original solution is hard to boot also so makes me leary in supporting something that won't fully work or have problems using.
thanks for any info in advance

1st off a backup of SM will not work, think about it if it worked then u wouldnt need it in the 1st place cos DVD backups would boot up on their own. it hasd to be PRESSED disk, u could boot it up if u used cogswaploader maybe, but u need SM or a chipped station to install it in the 1st place.
where did u down it from because im looking for older version as i cant get my SM 3.2 onto my damn memory card?

what craig 303 is trying to tell you is that a backup copy of swapmagic wont self boot it can be booted by the orignal swap magic discs or a no swap mod chip

yes but didnt u read why i want the old version?
so i can install to my memory card, using my Orignal SM disks as the patcher i have for my 3.2 version dont work, this will save me from having to boot the cd 5-7 times to get to work.
get it now?
i will still need my orignal SM disks to get installed as backups dont boot on their own. if i ddnt have the orignal disks then i would have no why of booting it up but i do so i can.
no got a m8 with a modded station or orignal SM disks? then he could install to your memory card for ya.
thx devilhunt

i was using emule don't remember which version and did a lookup for the img, iso file....
well i'm still new to all this. I just hate to purchase the sm 2 or 3 and it not work. I have read online users saying they can't boot using the original swap magic disks. so i'm like man if they have the originals and it don't work i'm not about to invest my money on the origials and they don't work. but to answer your question i searched for the images or iso files using emule or kazaa.

I will have to invest in it then but I will check tonight to see what version of ps2 my son has i'm not really sure. heheheheh so u don't like emule so what susggestions do u have. yeah the are slow in downloading but reliable. you have something better??? oh by the way. if i don't want to invest in the flip cd cover you have a method of getting the face place off the dvd drive to do the swap cd thing?? not unless there's another way to do it

its really easy to take the front of the drive off, u only have to take 1 screw out then back in again, i use a knife instead of the slide card i find it a lot easier and faster.
i could suggest the best 0 day torrent site but i think reg is closed im not sure :) torrentbits.org
or filelist.org but their a bunch off lamers lol good for a leech though cos i wouldnt give back to them.
even supernova is better than emule lol
DC++ too

hey craig 303, since u appear to have your system up and working already using this thing. I read you either need slide card, or mod chip of some kind.. So where is this one screw that removes the front face place off the dvd player? does it stay off permanantely once its taken off or do you keep it off for convienants. Also what kind of knife you using a regular butter knife?? I would rather get 2.0 version since it appears to play the dvd stuff and just use a knife if that method works consistantly.if not i'll buy the lil slcide card for an extra 10 bucks . thanks for the advise and i'll look up the other sites.which i've seen 2 out of the 3 you suggested but I guess i kneed to get familiar with how to find stuff from there and how to use those sites.

heres a link for the details of the removal
http://www.psxservices.co.uk/slidecard_cover_removal.htm
yup i use a normal eating knife, its quite thin though, i do have a picture and a video of me using the knife made for someone else a while back but cant get up here. if u want let me know and well work a way out could send over msn or something.
ok after reading your last post, i think u may be missing something here, when u get swap magic u get 2 disks, 1 CD for booting DVDrips that are on CD but they have to be under 621mb or u will need to burn to DVD or get breaker pro for TOC refresh.
the 2nd disk is a DVD which is used to boot dvd 1:1 backups.
from what ive seen people have problems with the CD not the DVD. u dont even have to have the CD nowadays cos cdloader is available as a DVD :)
so i depends on the backups your wanting to boot?

okay i think i understand now. I'm making backup of dvd's anyway so i should be cool and won't need the extra steps. Also i found a site thats selling the cd's and the flip for 35 so i think i'm going to just get it all at once and call it done.

i think your a bit cheeky jgrif, how much are you going to save on back up ps2 games anywaym swap discs only cost £15.00, if people could back them up and did then what would happen!! swap magic would have to put the prices up, they would cease development all together, im sorry to rant but there is damning the man and then there is a cheeky git and you my friend, are the latter.....
